Marriage Licenses

Marriage Licensing is now BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
Marriage licenses must be obtained in the town where the
ceremony will take place.  You must know the date and name
& contact information of the officiant prior to applying.

As of OCTOBER 1, 2026 per State law there is a 48 HOUR WAITING PERIOD prior to issuance.

Marriage License Application Process:

or Print and complete the following worksheet & bring it
to appointment.

2. Once the application is completed call the Town Clerk's Office at 860-567-7561 to set up the appointment to complete the application process.
3.  Both parties named on the license must appear in person with valid government issued photo ID.  An oath will be given and signatures obtained.
4. THERE IS NOW A 48 HOUR WAITING PERIOD BEFORE THE MARRIAGE LICENSE CAN BE ISSUED.
5. One or both parties named on the license must return to pick up the completed license which will be issued at that point.

6.  The marriage license must be used within 65 days.
